  cost of tattoos
Mike - Los Angeles   (Wednesday, January 18, 2006)

I believe that $100 an hour is very accurate for tattoo artists(good proffesion huh), and for even the smallest, quikest tattoos cost about 40-60 bucks. It gets even more expensive for big and detailed pieces because the artist will need to size and shape it to your body as well as reoutline it, add $200.

Q.
I was wondering do custom tattoos cost more than the ones that you can pick off the wall and if so is there a huge difference and do the artists have to do it freehand?

A.
If you take a sketch with you it can cost less, more so if you take linework, a custom tattoo by your tattooist means he spends more time with you than picking something from a wall so yes.

i just got a tattoo on aug.5th, and they guy that done it was really nice. he wasnt expensive but i asked how much my initials in old english lettering would be and he said it just depended on wut size it was. i had been to other tattoo parlors and they want $35-$55 a letter and when i went to the one where i got my tat the on ei picked out he said it would be $80 and i am really happy with it. and he gauranteens his work for life so if it fades or anything even if its my fault he will redo it for free. and needless to say i tipped him very well.

Lina - Chicago   (Monday, June 20, 2005)

I am interested in getting a tattoo in a few months. I've always wanted one, but I figured I would wait until I wont have to ask my mom so on or after my 18th birthday. My frineds and I plan on taking a trip and that's when I'm going to get it. I want in on my lower back. My 2 closest friends' birthdays are in December like mine so we're all getting our zodiac sign Sagittarius on our lower backs. But of course not the same exact one. I personally have drawn mine out already. I wonder does it cost even more when you sketch and not take it from there choices.......
